Looking at the Past

Author's Note: Our country is suffering as a whole and the decisions we are making simply aren't working. Maybe a little insight from our founding fathers would help us overcome these large obstacles
Many men sit around a table, debating, and discussing problems and possible solutions.  The fate of our country rests in their hands.  These men are our founding fathers.  They are the reason our government is here today; though things have changed, the origin is of our country is still in those 40 signatures that started it all. If I could have a face to face meeting with the founding fathers, I would want their opinion on the many problems we face in society today.  Being able to talk to them would be an amazing experience; our current day government could learn a lot from.
Our government is struggling with the debt; our Founding Fathers might be able to give us some important input.  After all they were around when the U.S. started using currency.  The first U.S. monetary system wasn't established until 1792, but before then they used notes and currency of other countries. I cannot imagine how hard it must have been to establish a solid foundation for the money we use today, and it must be even harder for them to even imagine trillions of dollars much less owing that much.  We must keep moving forward, but maybe looking back at how George Washington or Benjamin Franklin handled their finances might help us get organized and move onward. Instead of drowning in this problem we need to get up and keep it from turning into a bigger crisis.
When there is a crisis, things go downhill.  This can sometimes lead to a war.  If you look back at the Revolutionary War and look forward to wars in recent years, there are some similarities.  The Revolutionary War was all about gaining that freedom and breaking away from British rule.  Freedom is the keyword; that's where we can pinpoint similarities.  In recent wars we may not have been fighting for our freedom but, we were fighting for other nation’s freedom.  We do this because we believe other countries should all have the same rights and be able to live day to day lives without living in fear.  If we talked to the Founding Father's about this, they would be proud of us for maintaining our freedom and then going on to help others fight for their freedom.  After all we all live on this Earth together, only separated by a few bodies of water.
Our government would greatly benefit from a face to face meeting with the Founding Fathers who, along with many others, got our country running.  They would probably have some helpful advice; a new perspective from very experienced people would be extremely helpful.  Our current day government could really learn a lot from this exciting new experience, if it were possible.  Sometimes we just need to step out of our little bubbles and think outside the box.
