Author's Note: With this poem, I really tried to pack in a lot of descriptions you would typically hear about a winter day. What you get out of this poem is purely up to you, but I hope this paints a picture in your mind.
As I step out onto the porch
porch lights twinkle
and flicker behind the gentle snowflakes
they swirl and twirl
cascading softly to the ground
a light blanket of snow coats the cold ground
the earth has been wrapped in a warm embrace of pure snow
a sharp breeze sweeps by
chilling me
from inside out
I feel refreshed
made anew
the sun shines brightly off the white flakes
I shield my eyes
as i step out into the world
my boots make delicate imprints in the snow
I gaze up and down the street
each and every tree as a silver lining
of beautiful snow
with my glove
I bend over
and scoop the soft powder into my hand
with soft lips
I blow the snow away
watching as it flies into the distance
and become entangled and indistinguishable from the other flakes
snow cannot be any more pure
it is clean
and refreshing
you could compare it to a spring rain
it makes the world feel rejuvenated
and new
there is a difference though
rain washes away the impurities
whilst snow simply covers them up
I slowly make my descent down the long driveway
I tuck my hands in my pockets
to keep them safe from the harsh chill
I plant my feet stiffly at the edge of the driveway
a yellow figure comes barreling down the road
the headlights slice through the white scenery
my winter exploration has come to an end
but my school day has just started
